Getting Started
Set up Tank! around the aquariums you actually care for, then let the history build one reading and routine at a time.
What this is for
Getting started is about creating a useful first record: one tank profile, a few setup details, and the first readings or care actions you want to remember.
Choose your first setup path
Initial onboarding offers three choices:
- Express Setup for the required basics.
- Guided Setup for a step-by-step setup flow.
- Restore From Backup when you intend to replace current local app data with a selected backup.
Restore carefully. Tank! stores current app data locally, and restoring a backup may replace the data currently on the device. Backup files are not account sync, iCloud app-state sync, or automatic cloud restore.
Add another tank
- Use the main Add Tank + action.
- Choose Express Setup or Guided Setup.
- Complete the selected setup flow and save the new tank.
Restore From Backup is intentionally excluded from the normal Add Tank chooser because restoration may replace current local app data. Adding another tank does not restart or reset initial onboarding.
Build a useful record
- Give the tank a name you will recognize.
- Enter setup details available in the app, such as tank type and useful care context.
- Log a water test when you have readings to record.
- Open Reminder Center to keep routine water changes, feeding, and other supported care tasks visible.
- Return to the tank detail screen when you want recent care context in one place.
Tips
- Use tank names that match how you talk about them, such as "Kitchen planted tank" or "Reef cube".
- Do not wait for perfect records; a partial history is still better than scattered notes.
- Starter is intended for one aquarium. Tank! Plus Plan expands room for additional tanks.
