Data and Backups
Tank! currently focuses on local aquarium records, with local backup and recovery work designed to make those records easier to protect.
What this area is for
Data and backup screens explain where app records live today and what local recovery tools are available in the current app direction.
How to think about it
- Current core app data is stored locally through the app's SwiftData-backed persistence path.
- Manual Backup Now helps you save a backup from the app.
- You can save a backup to the default manual backup location or export/save a backup through the system Files picker.
- Depending on your device and available file providers, the system Files picker may let you save a backup to locations such as Files or iCloud Drive.
- Backup export is not iCloud sync, account sync, hosted cloud storage, or automatic cloud restore.
- Restoring from a backup replaces current app data with the selected backup.
- Tank! now presents clearer restore warnings and applies the restore after the app is closed and reopened.
- Use the app's backup and recovery surfaces when you need current platform-specific close/reopen guidance.
- Keep your device-level backup habits in mind for important aquarium records.
Things to know
Do not assume Tank servers, live account sync, hosted cloud storage, automatic cloud restore, or live iCloud mirroring protect app data unless a future app version explicitly says so.
